Horror movie are interesting and adventure filled. Its the sound and the visualization makes us frightened. They are generally based on imagination of incredible happenings and mysterious events. Most of them are made with false vision of existence of mysterious character. The make up and the back ground music are the important facts for a horror movie. 1. The Shining

In 1980 Stanley Kubrick made a film that terrifies audience all around the world. The movie starts when Jack Torrance (Nicholson)becomes the caretaker of the Overlook Hotel up in mountains of Colorado. He decide to live with his wife and children for winter months. He is told that the previous housekeeper has killed his family with an axe. Jacks younger son Danny began to see many strange things and a boy called tony began to live inside him and appears when he stands in front of a mirror. There are many frightening scenes and total the movie is awesome. Mr. Kubrick, using the works of various composers, has assembled another stunningly effective score.
2. The Excorcist

This movie has re written the facts of the horror movie and was highly acclaimed. Its the story of a 12 year old girl named Regan (Linda Blair) is possessed by evil. When her mother(Ellen Burstyn) came to know that every treatment in the field of medicine can do nothing she calls priest cum psychotherapist(Jason Miller) to perform an exorcism. He then recruits a father Merrin (Max von Sydow) an exorcist who has already confronted his demons, for help. Together they try to drive out the demon and save Regan’s life. Still this one is an unforgettable horror movie.
3. Psycho

A classic directed originally by Alfred Hitchcock, it’s no surprise that Hollywood decided toremake it, this time it was done by Gus Van Sant. Its a suspense horror, thriller blended movie. The story begins when a woman named Marion Crane (Janet Leigh)gets missing from an infamous bates motel in the desert, her sister and boyfriend visits the place and experiences some horrifying incidents. Hitchcock and Stafano have developed the movie in such a way that it consistently flouts expectations. There are two major surprises the shower scene murder and the final revelation about Mother.
4. Rosemary’s Baby

Roman Polanski, the director of this movie has made a stylish suspense thriller which made biggest blockbuster of the year 1968. It bagged many awards also including Oscars. The movie starts when a young couple, Rosemary and Guy woodhouse (Mia Farrow and John Cassavates) move into a new apartment, only to be surrounded by peculiar neighbors and occurrences. When the wife becomes mysteriously pregnant, paranoia over the safety of her unborn child begins controlling her life. The dreamlike sequence when Rosemary is impregnated is superbly shot and edited, just terrifying enough.
5. Night of the living dead

Night of the living dead is the seminal Zombie movie. The movie is George Romero’s classical low budgetzombie epic and a caustic political allegory and shocking thriller. The movie plot is simple enough and it starts when a young woman named Barbara (Judith O’Dea) and her brother when they visit their fathers grave at a cemetery in the rural backwoods of Pennsylvania. That place was haunted and an army of dead bodiescomes to terrorize them. This movie changed the way that people perceived horror movies at that time.
6. Carrie

“Carrie” is based on Stephen kings first novel. The movie stars Sissy Spacek as Carrie White and her performance were awesome in this movie. Carrie, a shy, diffident teenager who is weird about the practical jokes at her high school. She becomes panic at her first menstruation when her classmates taunt her and her Mommy Margaret White(Piper Laurie) treats it like a sin, it is a little too much for Carrie to take. Her powers of Telekinesis emerge. We cannot help but feel for Carrie- her innocence, her vulnerability. But in the end, all are surprised by her strength. A good movie to watch.
7. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
This movie is rated as most violent movie and deals with cannibalism. The movie is directed by Tobe Hooper and deals with the life of five young men. Marilyn Burns(Sally), Allen Danziger(Jerry), Paul.A.Partain (Franklin), William vail(Kirk) and Teri McMinn(Pam). The story begins when these five men goes for a road trip and when they getsisolated in a rural Texas comunity. They fall into the clutches of a monstrous clan of Texas cannibals and find themslves that their life under chainsaw wielding Leatherface. Many bloodshed scenes are censored before it released.
8. Poltergeist

Steven Spielberg co-produced and co-wrote Poltergeist, the 1982 horror classic directed by Tobe Hooper. The movie was nominated for 3 Oscars and won many other awards. Poltergeist is about ghost who becomes host of a house through their television sets. The ghosts kidnaps their daughter to their twilight world. Hiring paranormal experts, the family attempts to discover why she was taken and how to get her back. The performance of JoBeth Williams, Craig T. Nelson, Beatrice were awesome. Its the horror movie of all time.
9. Ringu (The Ring)

This is a Japanese movie and its a remake of the English movie “The Ring”. This movie is better, as far as plot goes, than the American remake by far. The plot is difficult to follow at times, but there’s something grittier about it that the glossy American version just doesn’t have. The atmosphere is better, because it makes the movie seem all the more believable. The story begins when a group of Japanese teenagers stays in a remote cabin. Exactly after one week inexplicable death happen. A cousin of one of the victims, reporter Reiko Asakawa (Nanako Matsushima), begins an investigation that leads to the discovery of a videotape containing hauntingly bizarre. The movie is well crafted by the director Hideo Nakata.
10. Jaws
This movie has many parts and are known for its good reputation. Its a big-fish oriented movie. That is,a great white shark begins to attack small beach resort town of Amity. This makes the town police chief Roy Schneider(chief Martin Brody) into a big head ache. He wants to close the beaches to chase the shark away. He is thwarted in his efforts by the town’s mayor who finally relents when nothing else seems to work and the chief, a scientist, and an old fisherman with revenge on his mind take to the sea to kill the beast.
